Where's Your Bliss?

Yoo-hoo!!!  Here I am!!!!  Over here, hiding behind mountains of paperwork, dishes, and laundry!  Ms. Bliss, or should I say, Shavonne, is here and is desperately seeking the phone booth that will allow me to shed my everyday and return to being the sensual and playful siren of "the hoop".  This last year has been a whirlwind and I'm not sure where it went!!!  Since my last blog post (on Hoopnotica's website), I have turned the BIG 3-0, got a new FULL-TIME job in a school district, celebrated a 5th wedding anniversary, survived a birthday party for my 4 year old, oh, and with my partners in crime, have started the FIRST HOOP STUDIO IN MICHIGAN!!!!!!  That's right!  Kissed by Bliss LLC is official and we are having our 1st Annual Hoop Jam/Open House at the end of the month!  I am so excited I could scream, oh wait, I have - many, many times!

This studio has been a dream of mine since I became a certified instructor almost 2 1/2 years ago.  Right now we are renting space in a martial arts studio to gauge the temperature of the hoopers in the city, but I'm sure we will be "smokin'" in no time!  Opening this studio will serve as my permanent phone booth.  I will admit that I have been slacking with my personal practice and there are no excuses, but doggone it, there just aren't enough hours in the day!!!  I started a Troupe de Hoop group at my school with a few teachers (they have come such a long way and are reeeeally good!) just so that I would have an hour out of my hectic week to get in the hoop and not completely lose my hoop/teaching skills.

Not having the time to hoop makes me realize that I need to try harder to make the time.  During that one hour of the week, I completely lose myself and remember why I became fascinated with hoopdance in the first place.  There is a feeling that takes over my being that allows me to shake off the drama of the day and just be me - unscripted, emotional, raw... free.  I miss that feeling and totally took it for granted when I worked part-time.  In my hoop, I find happiness, confidence, freedom, gratitude - bliss.  Where do you find yours?

Welcome back, Ms.Bliss - the hoop has missed you...

Until next time ;*
