KonTempo's Playlist

I don't know about you guys but music is one of the most important things to me while I'm hooping. I turn on a good song and I'm lost in my hoop until the song is over.I've developed a couple of playlists in my ipod so I can keep going and not get distracted by starting and stopping. It messes up my flow when I am shuffling through my ipod trying to find another good song to hoop to. My playlist helps me focus and get into the "mood" of hooping. The next thing I know when I look up it's 40 minutes and I've burned close to 300 calories (if not more).

This playlist doesn't feature the most up to date songs but it gives you a medley of beats, voices and rhythms to keep your hoop moving and the calories burning. This playlist also gives you a variety of music. Nothing sounds the same. This is a bonus because you can work on off the body movements that focuses on places such as the arms and legs and on the body movements which triggers the abs and back. Try some of these songs out and tell me what you think. Leave a message on the KBB fan page on Facebook and let me know what you think. Leave your favorite songs as well!

*Imogen Heap: Hide and Seek
Major Lazar
(feat. VYBZ Kartel): Pon de Floor
Martin Solveig & Dragonette: Hello
Santogold: You'll Find A Way
Sleigh Bells: Tell 'Em
P!nk: Raise Your Glass
Beyonce' & Shakira: Beautiful Liar
Usher: Bad Girl
Prince and the Revolution: Baby I'm A Star
*Rihanna: The Last Song

* Can be used as a warm-up or cool down song

Dear Dairy,

I did it!!! YYYYYEEEEESSSSS!!! I passed my Hoopnotica certification. Talk about intense! I was so nervous but I managed to get through it with the support of my partners (Robin and Shavonne). Through it all though I had a blast! I met a great group of women and this was an amazing experience like no other.

I am still in awe with the way business has taken off. We have gotten such a positive response from our supporters and individuals who have never heard of hoopdance before. Those are the ones I LOVE to meet because it is so exciting to see their eyes light up when you show them what hoopdance is really about.

BTW the obesity conference was unforgettable!! We had such a great time discussing the benefits of hoop fitness and persuading  people to try the hoop. Once they tried it they didn't want to put it down! I also enjoyed the astonishment when we told them how many calories they can burn by just standing in one place hooping for an hour (300 calories) and once you incorporate the dance part in it well the calories are endless!!! LOL!! I love you guys!!

Hooper Hugs and KBB Kisses,

KonTempo

P.S. KonTempo's playlist coming soon!!!

Dear Diary,

Life is funny! Never in a million years would I have guessed that I would be a partner with a Hoopdance studio. I am not much of a blogger  nor am I an expert writer, but I would love to use this blog as an outlet. A channel that our readers can turn to and realize that we all go through the same thing. The frustration of trying to learn a hoop trick. Wondering if this "art" is really for you because you are the only one in the class that can't get it. Wondering if this is something that you can stick with and not just a "faze" that will disappear like your other workouts that you once committed to (you have a basement full of exercise equipment to prove it).

When I put the hoop around my waist, I become empowered and less insecure. My thick frame doesn't think "Am I too fat"??? No I'm not because my hoop fits perfect around my waist. My eyes close and I sing as my body moves to the rhythm... Crystal Marie disappears and KonTempo emerges. I open my eyes for a few seconds and look on the side of me. On the side of me is that little girl (me) in the backyard in the 80s. The music is loud but i can still hear her. "Shoop Shoop" We look at each other and smile...I close my eyes again and don't say a word. I just let my hips do the talking.

S.W.A.K.,
